Convicted killer escapes during transport in southern California

Authorities are searching for César Hernández, a convicted murderer who is now a fugitive
A dangerous fugitive is being sought in Southern California after escaping from a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) transport van in Kern County. César Hernández, 34, who was convicted of first-degree murder in 2019, fled while being transported to the Kern County Superior Courthouse.
The escape occurred on Monday at approximately 10:45 a.m. Hernández, who is 1.65 meters tall (5’5”) and weighs 73 kilograms (161 pounds), was wearing an orange prison uniform and white thermal clothing at the time of his escape.

The CDCR, in collaboration with other local and state agencies, including the Delano Police Department and the California Highway Patrol, has launched an intense manhunt to locate him. Authorities warn that Hernández is dangerous and urge the public to call 911 with any information regarding his whereabouts. Extreme caution is advised when attempting to identify him.
