A suspect has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a man following a brawl near a popular taco restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter early Friday morning.
San Diego Police reported that the incident occurred just outside Tacos El Gordo on F Street, at Fifth Avenue, around 2:20 a.m.
According to the police, a 24-year-old man had been "involved in a physical altercation with a group of onlookers" before leaving the area. However, officers stated that after the same man was handed a knife, he returned to the group he had fought with and then stabbed a 23-year-old Hispanic man.
The victim suffered a 2-inch cut to the chest and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, where he underwent surgery for a collapsed lung. Authorities said the victim was in stable condition.
The assailant was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was booked into San Diego Central Jail.
