A man who worked as a "nanny" was convicted on Tuesday for sexually abusing 16 children and exposing them to child pornography material, as reported by prosecutors.
The case occurred in Southern California, where Matthew Antonio Zakrzewski was arrested in May 2019 after a couple in Laguna Beach reported to the police that the individual had inappropriately touched their child. Authorities quickly identified more victims, and Zakrzewski ultimately faced a total of 34 charges, including improper conduct with minors.
The ages of the victims ranged from 2 to 12 years old, according to authorities. A jury found him guilty on all charges, as confirmed by the Orange County District Attorney's office.
The perpetrator operated a website where he portrayed himself as a "great friend" to children.
Prosecutor Todd Spitzer expressed, "These children endured unimaginable terror due to the most egregious betrayal by a caregiver."
The sentencing date is scheduled for November 17.
