Ismael El Mayo Zambada García was arrested in El Paso, Texas by agents of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Following a lengthy investigation, the so-called capo of capos of the Sinaloa cartel was able to be apprehended, as confirmed by the DEA.
Zambada had spent the last years as one of the main fugitives from justice and is considered one of the key instigators of violence in Mexico and the United States.
The U.S. Department of State had offered a reward of 15 million dollars for his capture.
Some sources indicate that he surrendered to U.S. authorities.
