The attack occurred while families of swimmers were in the area
This Thursday, July 4th, two people were victims of shark attacks on Padre Island, located on the Texas coast. The incident has caused concern among the local community and visitors to this popular tourist area.
The attacks were captured by families who were on the Island enjoying the holiday for Independence Day in the USA. The victims were quickly aided by other swimmers, while authorities transported them to nearby hospitals. The condition of the victims is still unknown.
Authorities evacuated the area until it is deemed safe.
Cameron County Judge confirmed that two people were bitten by sharks on South Padre Island during the July 4th holiday. As a result, the county is advising swimmers to take precautions when visiting the beaches and entering the water. Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. expressed his condolences to the victims and their families for these rare and concerning attacks.
He also assured that the county is working closely with local and federal authorities to patrol the beaches and take appropriate preventive measures. Visitors are urged to follow safety guidelines and stay informed about maritime conditions, especially due to the approach of Hurricane Beryl.
