Authorities have filed charges against a 13-year-old girl accused of stabbing another minor of the same age, according to officials in Texas.

Houston, Tx police say the suspect was referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her identity was not disclosed due to her age.

The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. in the 800 block of West Green Road.

Police say it began with a verbal altercation that escalated when one girl stabbed the other at least once.

The injured girl was taken to the hospital and reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect was apprehended by officers.
