The storm has caused hail the size of tennis balls to fall
A series of storms brought tornadoes, heavy rainfall, and tennis ball-sized hail to the central United States on Monday night, in what is forecasted as a severe weather event continuing throughout the rest of the week.
More than 8 million Americans were under severe weather warnings, including tornado warnings for parts of Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Damage to houses, trees, and power lines has been reported from Texas to Kentucky, with dust storms causing cars to pile up on highways.
Residents shared videos of cracked windshields and hail the size of a person's palm.
After hitting parts of Texas, Illinois, and Oklahoma, the weather system will extend from the northern parts of Indiana and Ohio to western Pennsylvania and move southward.
The risk of tornadoes extends from southeast Indiana across Ohio and parts of Kentucky, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The population is encouraged to stay updated on weather updates.
Strong storms have been slamming the Midwest this morning, with multiple tornado warnings, heavy rain and damaging winds.
