In Riobamba, Ecuador, the community was shocked by the gruesome discovery of the body of Dana Ramos, an 8-year-old, inside the cistern of her paternal grandparents' home.

The tragedy began on February 1st when Dana disappeared after leaving her home in Riobamba. According to the mother, the girl had received a message while playing a video game, went out to the store, and never returned. Desperate, the mother searched unsuccessfully and finally reported to the authorities.

On February 8th, authorities arrested a woman suspected of involvement in the disappearance, but uncertainty persisted. The following day, on February 9th, they detained the father of the minor, Mauro Ramiro, under suspicion of being involved in Dana's disappearance. Despite these detentions, the girl had not yet been found.

On February 8th, authorities conducted an inspection at the paternal grandparents' home with no results. However, on February 16th, during a new investigation at the same residence, they discovered Dana's body in an advanced state of decomposition inside the water cistern.

Ecuadorian authorities issued a report determining that the cause of the minor's death was asphyxiation. Now, an attempt is being made to ascertain whether she was murdered on the same day and her body was thrown into the tank.

On February 16th, during the transfer of Dana's body to their vehicle, neighbors expressed their indignation by shouting "Justice for Dana!" Dana's funeral took place on Sunday, February 18th.
