"This one won't hit you anymore," the child told his mother before shooting his father in the head
In Buenos Aires, Argentina, a shocking incident unfolded when an 11-year-old boy shot his father, Daniel Roberto Gómez, while he was asleep in their home. Police sources reported that the act was motivated by the child's exhaustion from witnessing repeated episodes of domestic violence, where his father would physically abuse his mother.
The tragic event occurred yesterday afternoon at a residence on Lanús and Murucuyá streets. Daniel Gómez, a 65-year-old municipal employee, lived with his wife and their 11-year-old son. According to information gathered so far, the man assaulted his wife after reprimanding her for not completing some errands. He then retired to rest in his room.
At that moment, the son witnessed the attack, comforted his mother, and said, "This one won't hit you anymore." He then took a .22 caliber revolver and shot his father in the head while he was resting. The victim was taken to the Hospital Güemes de Haedo in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries, as reported by Télam.
Upon witnessing the scene, the mother called the police and requested an ambulance. Forensic experts from the Scientific Police of Bonaerense secured the weapon used in the attack, which belonged to a family friend and lacked proper documentation. In her statement, the boy's mother revealed that her husband was extremely violent but she had never dared to report him.
The case, involving "aggravated homicide and illegal possession of a civilian firearm," is being handled by the Juvenile Responsibility Prosecutor's Office No. 2 in Morón, under the direction of Aldana Zingg. Due to the child's age, it is anticipated that he will be considered not criminally responsible."
