One of the names set to compete for the Welterweight championship in the Ultimate Warrior Challenge Mexico (UWC) has been revealed. The event is scheduled for this Sunday, February 25th, at Barezzito and will be internationally broadcasted on UFC Fight Pass.
The contender is Adrián Oviedo, a native of Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina, with a record of 7 victories, 3 losses, and no draws. Notably, he has secured three consecutive wins within the organization.
"Oviedo has been a pleasant surprise in UWC, facing strong fighters and MMA veterans, emerging victorious in each case," commented Alejandro Islas, UWC CEO.
"Now that we've decided to bring back our Welterweight Championship, his name rose to the top of the contender list, and he deserves this opportunity. If he wins, he would be only the fourth to hold this title," added Islas.
In his recent winning streak, Oviedo (7-3-0) has defeated Miguel "Gallo" Arizmendi (8-8-0), Carlos Paita (4-4-0), and Filip "Czar" Zadruzynski (4-5-0), all ending in the first and second rounds.
The main event will be for the Bantamweight Championship, with Mahatma "Araña" García (14-10-1) from Spiderr Bros MMA in Tepic, Nayarit, defending the title against Adrián Luna Martinetti (13-1-0) from Entram Gym in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
