The event will be in honor of those who lost their lives on this historic day for the United States.
Twenty-three years after the terrorist attack in New York City, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) San Diego Field Office announced that on September 11, they will dedicate a moment of silence at the land ports of entry to honor the victims of that tragic event.
At exactly 5:46 a.m., the ports of entry that will hold a brief pause are San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Tecate, East and West Calexico, and Andrade. CBP advised travelers to plan accordingly and remain patient during the commemoration ceremony, after which operations will resume as normal.
On September 11, 2001, commercial flights 11 and 67 of American Airlines and 93 and 175 of United Airlines were hijacked by a terrorist group. One plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, the second hit the South Tower, the third crashed into the west side of the Pentagon, and the fourth was reclaimed by passengers, crashing into a field.

This event shocked the entire world, as people watched the news from early in the morning, witnessing the collapse of both towers. The attack resulted in 2,996 deaths, more than 25,000 injuries, and $10 billion in damage to infrastructure and property.
