The incident was reported early Friday morning
An explosion and fire at the NASSCO facility in Barrio Logan early Friday morning caused concern among many nearby residents.
Around 1 a.m., San Diego Fire-Rescue teams, Harbor Police, and San Diego Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting an explosion and flames shooting into the air at the property located at 2798 East Harbor Drive.
NASSCO workers were evacuated as fire crews extinguished the blaze, which began when a fume extractor exploded.
The gas line in the area was shut off, and crews were able to put out the fire after about 30 minutes.
There was no immediate information on when the gas supply would be restored.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
